I achieved this by adding static dns entry for www.domain.com in my DCs DNS
to point to the external web site. Obviously this won't work if you need
(why?) to access the web site without the www.

name i own (as in they're exactly the same). If I set the domain controller
as the preferred domain name server of the domain, I get an "Under
Construction" error page when trying to access my website online but
everything else is working perfectly. If I set my hub, for example, as the
preferred domain name server i'll be able to access my website but i get all
the problems of not having the DC as the DNServer such as long logon times,
accessing the internet unneccessarily, not finding the domain in the "look
in...", "Add" and "Find" dialog boxes, etc.....

let's say "xyz.com" from my internal network domain which has the same name
"xyz.com". The only solution ive been able to come up with was renaming my
domain which as I understand is a long and risky process. Is there an easier
way to do this??
