And you have a perfectly reasonable view but there is a convention on the
Acorn news groups not to top post. We like that convention and prefer
others coming into the group to respect that convention. It is as simple
as that.
When I post to other groups I read them for a while, try to ascertain what
conventions are used and "go with the flow"
Most of the Acorn groups are unmoderated in the strict sense of the word
but one or two individuals, like Druck, do step in when they feel it
necessary to remind people of the conventions and the charter. Generally
speaking their comments are accepted and the huge amount of knowledge,
technical support and help they give others here makes them highly
respected.
I know all newsgroups are public and should not be regarded as some sort
of "club", with rules which /must/ be obeyed, but the Acorn community, at
least as far as active usenet members is concerned is relatively small and
it is like belonging to club.
All are welcome to post here but we do like people to treat us and our
conventions with respect and they in return will be treated with respect.
It is regretted by the majority here that the actions of one rather
foolish individual have caused all this aggravation, crossposting (which
is frowned upon) and arguing.
Crossposting myself, I wish to offer my apologies to all who have been
dragged into this row by said individual and those who have been offended
unnecessarily by the subsequent row over top posting.
I am sure others would wish the same.
