unknown firewall??

The server service is started (automatically) and is
currently on.

If its a firewall issue, it seems that its started in the
background when Windows begins to boot up. Before that
point, when just the computer is booting, others can see
my computer. Any ideas on specific services or registries
that might enable some kind of firewall?
