about netscape, If you use quick start function, that stay in startup.
if that isn't stay in startup netscape start bit longer.
but if you feel quick launch are no necessary , you can disable in netscape's preferences.
(from netscape menu, Edit > Preferences > Advance uncheck on Quick Launch)
All other program are same reason to stay at satrt up
also you can disable with like Startup control panel
http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
also you can manually launch direct cd when you need, even you disabled in startup.
(so when you need you need click program icon from Start menu)
