Try this:
Seen at several PC's now.
MS04-011 (835732), one of the April 2004 patches, causes long
term high CPU load for either IEXPLORE.EXE and/or explorer.exe
when browing the Internet.
Removal of the patch via Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add/Remove
Programs solves the problem.
