Can you get into Safe Mode? If so, you may be able to get into device
manager and change the HAL from an ACPI kernel to a standard kernel.
Alternateively, you can try toggling all the power saving functions in BIOS.
Whatever they are now, set them to the opposite.

pc100, ati rage lt). Apparently the laptop is not entirely ACPI compliant so
I have too press F7 when the installation asks for storage drivers. This
disables ACPI. All is well till windows trys too identify and load drivers
for my devices, then the screen goes blank. The installation continues but i
cant see it. After it has finished installing, I can boot and i do see the
2000 splash screen but when the login screen is supposed too appear the
screen goes blank. All except for my pointer, the pointer appears in white,
but the rest of the screen is black. I have tried booting into VGA mode and
sometimes (1 out of 3 tries) i can see images, but i cannot change any
settings. So, are there any tricks i need too try? I have tried this from a
fresh install (formatted), and also from an upgrade (98se). Same result. I
dont get as far with the clean install though because i lose video before i
am prompted too input the serial#. PLEASE HELP!! Please email me if you
think you can help. Canterbury5@hotmail.com
