Re: Passwords

Run diskmgmt.msc via Start/Run. It will tell you if your
partitions are NTFS or not.

Click Start/Help and look for "Permissions" to see how
permissions are set.

Since you have several PCs and since you are concerned
about the security of the folders containing signature files,
you should consult a suitably qualified server or network
administrator about these things: How to set them up, how
to test them, how to make them bullet proof. Not doing so
could cost you very dearly: All it takes is a computer-savvy
staff member who is perhaps disgruntled about something.

Yes ... forgive my ignorance, but I don't know what an NTFS volume is ..
is it Windows NT for the nt part, if that's the case we don't have
windows nt

We have win2000 & xp on various pcs and they are connected thru hubs as
far as I know ..

With explorer I know I can set to "read only", but anyone with the little
knowledge that I have could change that .. I was hoping I could set a
password instead.

Are you asking a further question?

Many thanks for your reply. The folder resides on a shared drive, just
using windows 2000 & xp. Please forgive my lack of knowledge, not a
techie .. Abay

Hello,

Is there a way to put a password on a folder, i.e. protect all files
in that folder (the folder contains signature images).

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Abay

If the folder resides on an NTFS volume then you can control
access to it by setting appropriate NTFS permissions.
