I have 80 GB harddisk, partitioned into 4 drives of 20 GB each. I
installed XP on the first drive. However after intallation was done
and a couple of reboots, somehow the partitions changed. The first
drive (C:) reduced to 12 GB and an unallocated space 8 GB left between
C and D. Now disk Management Console has actions greyed out on this
space. Any idea whats going on and whats the remedy
Is the disk make and size properly recognized in the BIOS? Are the jumpers on the hard disk properly located? Is it the sole disk on the controller or is it in a Master/Slave relationship with another disk? Is the hard disk properly cabled, if it is in a Master/Slave arrangement is it at the proper location on the cable? Other than the XP installation does the disk (other partitions) contain any data that you want/need to save?
