well i want to recover deleted files in win98 and as for posting in
win98 group sorry about that its just that i couldn't find a win98
group will search again

I think you can access any part of the hard disk under DOS,
including the FAT. Remember the DOS Norton Utilities?
They did it routinely. You can even do it with debug.exe!
