I think you can access any part of the hard disk under DOS,
including the FAT. Remember the DOS Norton Utilities?
They did it routinely. You can even do it with debug.exe!

How can i access File Allocation table on FAT32 on win98... i know its
ancient but you gotta do what you gotta do.. i heard of the 16 bit
thunking stuff but sounds really bad is there any other way...
