File properties summary information access

Hi,

Wondering if anyone here can tell me how to access the file properties
summary information. I'd like to use the file properties summary fields to
store information about individual photos such as a title and description.
How can I retrieve this stored information for use with other apps, and
transfer the info with the image files when copying files to other media
such as CD or DVD?
