Thanks again! I did as you suggested, and It worked. I still don't really understand what was wrong before, because everything you said to check seemed to be okay. But it's migrating as I type, so I'm happy :)

Arthur,
I believe that enumerating the shares is done by connecting to the other computer's registry and looking at the HKLM\System\CCS\services\lanmanserver\shares key.
What I would suggest is to check if remote registry service is running on the computer hosting the shares. Also if we open regeditm can we connect to network registry of the computer hosting the shares and navigate to the above mentioned key ?

Hi, I hope i'm in the right newsgroup for this:
I'm trying to migrate files, shares and security using the File Server Migration Wizard. When I try to add the "Source file server" (windows 2000), i get "Cannot enumerate shares on server wcelem1... System Error: 5, Access is denied".
The source server is a windows 2000 server, and the destination server is 2003. They are in seperate domains and forests, but there is an established trust relationship between them, both ways. I have added my 2k3 domain account to the Administrators group on the 2000 server. I can browse shares fine using explorer and see them using net view. I tried "pushd \\wcelem1\c$" and also get Access is denied.
I'm sure i'm missing something simple, any ideas?
