Hey everyone. We're using W2K3. Got shadow copy set to take copies at
11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. I'm looking at the system event log, filtering on
"Service Control Manager" events.
I see some normal starts and stops for the Shadow Copy service, but some
extra starts and stops. Here's some examples:
8/2/04
11:00:01 AM The Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service entered
the running state.
11:00:01 AM the Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service was
successfully sent a start control.
11:00:01 AM The Volume Shadow Copy service entered the running state.
11:00:01 AM The Volume Shadow Copy service was successfully sent a start
control.
11:03:10 AM The Volume Shadow Copy entered the stopped state.
11:06:10 AM The Microsoft Software Shadow Copy provider entered the
stopped state.
And later on, the same events, starting at 1:36:34 PM, finishing at 1:41
PM and 1:44 PM.
And again later, the same events starting at 4:00:00 PM, as expected.
We're using Vertias NetBackup v 5.0GA clients. It does seem that the
Volume Shadow copy services start around the same time as backups start,
but there are other "extra" starts outside of those times.
Anyone else seeing this sort of behavior?
TIA
-Sean
