1.) I have a nt domain
2.) the file server that holds the user profiles and home directories are on a windows 2003 machine

Problem:

The issue is this, the machine that's holding the user data + profile has grown quite large. The plan is to move all the user's profiles + home directories over to a brand new disk. With the current setup, the home directory for each user is inside of another folder that's inside of the user's profile folder. This made it hard as hell to tell how big each user's profile was because it was mixed in with their home directories. So since I'm moving everything to a new drive I also want to seperate profiles from the home directory. I know longer want the home directory inside of the profile folder. This makes it easier for me to tell how big each person's profile is. However I have 400 shared folders (profile + home dir)total.

1.) I want to save the share points. I don't want to have to remake the shares
2.) i want the profile folder just to hold the profile and the home directory just for the home directory
3.) I also have to copy over all the user's files

Is there a simple and easy way of doing this?

I was thinking about doing a backup then restoring all the data back onto the new disk, but that only restores the users data. It doesn't separate the user's profile folder from their home directory folder or remake the shares.

The only other way i can think of doing this is to do it manually. back up all the user's information. Make the new shares on the drive and then restore each person's profile into the new profile directory and file's into their new file directory.

is there any other way that would be faster and more convient?
