Hi,
We have a small problem. Our primary DC and DNS server went down
along with the secondary DNS server. Now, when I go into the DNS Snap
In tool and try to add it (have complete connectivity), it failes and
cannot find the DNS server. Even though nslookups produce the right
output? Anybody have any ideas? The only thing I saw was Microsoft
Article 884548 and the promise of a hotfix. I haven't found the
hotfix, although my DNS.EXE is relatively up to date. Also, the
netdiag.exe tool fails to produce output. This setup worked before the
outage. Someone please direct me in the right way.
Thanks
Check to see if the DNS service is running. If not, it won't be able to
"find" it.
Please post the output of the following:
An unedited ipconfig /all of the server
The output of an nslookup
typing 'net start'
This will help us get a better idea of what's going on.
As for the hotfix, Kevin said it - need to get it directly from Microsoft.
It's free.
