Big Problem.... Under the forwarders tab it says "forwarders are not
available because this is a root server". I am onsite attempting this at

Delete the "." (DOT) zone and forwarders will re-enable.

Only those people who know enough to create this root zone for themselves
would EVER need such a thing -- and it defaults to creating it under certain
conditions.
