Hello,

I run my own dns servers, but only for my domain names, the servers
themselves use my isp's dns's to resolve names.

I tried adding a pointer record for the mail servers ip address but
it didnt seem to make any difference.

Your server may be authoritative for your domain name, but unless explicitly
delegated by your ISP, they (the ISP) retains Authority over the reverse
lookup.
