DNS Logs and Scavengin

I manage a Windows 2000 native domain from a WinXP Pro XP2 workstation that
has Win2003 admin tools on it. I'm having a time enabling Event Logging in
each server's Properties. If I click on one of the radio buttons to enable,
say, Errors and then Apply, when I re-open the Event Log tab, it's back to no
logging.

If I log into the Windows 2000 DNS server, the DNS mmc doesn't have an Event
Log tab. Any ideas on how to re-enable logging to the DNS log?

I'd like to see some logging because I'm not able to scavenge old records
(2004) that are marked for deletion by scavenging. Our aging and scavenging
properties are set for 7 days each.

I've read all the Microsoft kb articles about configuring scavenging and
everything appears to be setup correctly. Any ideas on how to get the old
records out without manually deleting them?
