Hello !
I am trying to re-create the environment of one of our customer (it wasn´t setup by us and we have to live with it)
There is only one domain call mydomain, there is about 10 sites/DCs.
We are taking over the support for this domain and its really a mess (replication, topologie, DC which weren´t removed...)
They created a domain mydomain without any suffix and an AD intregrated zone call mydomain.
DNS is apparently working fine (nslookup works).
My problem is when i try to do the same in an environment lab and i can´t install it correctly ( i am always missing the folder _msdcs _sites _tcp _udp ) but it does create a record for the DC.
I personaly thought ( and i thing i read it) that it was adviced to create a domain with the extension .local or .lan but never without extension.
So if somebody already had the same experience, i would like to hear from him and specially if anybody knows what is the impact of such settings on windows 200 network.
Thank you,
Xavier
