Windows Explorer Crashes

I have Win200Pro SP4. A few days ago each time I try to
delete a file or right click a file in Windows Explorer it
crashes with an Application Exception message. The Dr
Watson log shows the following each time (or similar) -
Application exception occurred:
App: explorer.exe (pid=1372)
When: 9/7/2004 @ 15:12:51.052
Exception number: 0eedfade (always this exception)

Only change in the days before this occured was to install
"Copernic Desktop Search" - have uninstalled it but made no
difference.

I tried doing a Windows Repair booting from Win2000 Setup
floppies and using an up-to-date Repair disk but the repair
process reported that it could not see the repair file (the
disk is OK as far as I can see) so tried a repair direct
from the Win2000 CD. No change.

I tried expanding Explorer.exe and copying it over
Explorer.exe in the WINNT folder (in a Safe Mode command
prompt) - no change. Also ran Spybot but it found nothing.

Before I do the next obvious thing and reformat the HD - a
hell of a job - would appreciate any advice on possible
solutions
