RE: event ID 1586

Hi Jason,

Thanks for posting!

Please help me know how you determine "in the topology don't replicate with
the pdc master fsmo owner."

For some information, please refer to the following article:
Verify successful replication to a domain controller
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/library/Opera
tions/00e7f86b-ccd3-4cb8-9a01-bf747241b500.mspx

Based on my further research, as the Q269417 said, this behavior can occur
because the domain controller on which this event occurs did not
successfully replicate the checkpoint information for downlevel backup
domain controllers (BDCs). If a domain controller is not configured to
replicate directly with the primary domain controller (PDC) Floating Single
Master Operation (FSMO) role holder, it does not replicate the checkpoint
information.

So I recommend you double check if the connection object is configured in
Active Directory (AD) Sites and Services the domain controller on which
this event occurs. If not, please manually configure in Active Directory
(AD) Sites and Services to replicate from the PDC FSMO role holder.

If there is anything that is unclear, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks & Regards,

Jason Tan

| Two of my dc's keep in their eventlog the 1586, both in the topology
don't
| replicate with the pdc master fsmo owner. all other bdcs that have the
pdc
| owner as a partner of replications don't have the error.
|
| Must i create another replication topology or build a new connection
object
| between my dcs and the pdc owner?
|
| All my domain is a mixed mode w2000.
|
| i read the q269417 and don't get the clue about my question bcoz it talks
| about bdcs and role transfers .
|
| thanx in advance!
