Many thanks: your post fixed my problem that started with a funner.worm
infection. McAfee got rid of the files but left me with no desktop and
multiple (c. 190!!) instances of userinit.exe running that took 100%
CPU.
When I checked the Registry from your post the "Shell" entry had been
modified to "Shell"="userinit.exe".
Running W2k Professional SP5.
