Hi Rolf,

These particular hangs are not simple to troubleshoot, because it can also
be caused by a third party applications like Kernel level filter drivers,
anti-virus, etc..

One thing you can try to troubleshoot this issue, would be to completely
uninstall your anti-virus. Then re-install .NET Framework 1.1 and see if
you still experience the hung behavior.

See if the workaround in the following article works for your scenario. If
it does, then call your local Microsoft Technical Support Center and request
the hotfix outlined in the article.
