It sounds like the name of PDC for the remote domain cannot be resolved.
That's usually a DNS issue. See this article for more information:

What I would do is run NETDIAG and DCDIAG on each PDC emulator and see if
they pass the test. This will tell you whether there are DNS problems or
other AD related issues that need to be addressed. DCDIAG and NETDIAG get
installed as part of the Support Tools from the installation CD under
\Support\Tools. Run each with the /v switch and pipe the output to a text
file. Then you can go back through each file and see if there are any
failures.
