Hi...

I recently had a client get nailed with the BackGate
Trojan and after getting it out and attempting to do my
final "tunes" on the server, no joy.. I found I cannot get
ANY of the MMC's to stay open. For example, Event Viewer,
when I launch it it flashes up on the screen and then
immediately closes. Can't keep open Task Manager, Event
Viewer, Services, AD Admin, Server Admin, NONE OF THEM
will stay open!
I have scoured the web and the abyss of MS Knowledge base
with every iteration of the description of the problem.
But to no avail. Does anyone know if "MMC.EXE" can be
uninstalled and reinstalled or deleted and replaced
or ???????? This really making me crazy. OH and I cannot
get into Regedit either. Same thing happens. Exe fires and
immediately closes. I have tried it from the Cmd prompt
etc etc.
I truly hope someone knows about this one. It's a real @#$
scratcher!
MANY MANY THANKS in advance for any and all replies. At
this point I am ready to toss the thing out the windows
(pun intended) but it is the master for the AD and DHCP
and APPs and .....

Thanks! Frustrated in PA... Jeff Lehman
