Re: Windows 2000 and GPO

Hi Meinolf,

DC IPCONFIG

IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.200
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 127.0.0.1
Primary WINS Server . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.200

WKS IPCONFIG

Indirizzo IP. . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.55
Subnet mask . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Gateway predefinito . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
Server DHCP . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.200
Server DNS . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.200
Server WINS primario . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.200

I think DNS is OK!
When a user is member of Domain Admins group GPOs work well.
There are problems only for users not members of Domain Admins group !!!!!
Thks

Hello Nicolangelo Tartaglia - MCSA MCSE,

GPO problems often are DNS related. Can you post an ipconfig /all from the
DC and one workstation.

Best regards

I have a problem with group policy and I hope that you can take the
time to help me out.

First the network consists of one windows server 2000 domain
controller/DNS (SP4) and a collection of computers with windows XP
Professional (SP2).

The problem arises when I try to apply user group policy linked to
domain or OUs. The group policy is propagated to client computers only
if the user is member of Domain Admins group.

If the user is not member of Domain Admins Group, in the client's
Event Viewer (application) I view the event:

Event:1053
Source:Userenv
Description:
Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. (The specified
domain
either does not exist or could not be contacted. ). Group Policy
processing
aborted.

So what should solve this problem ?

Thanks for your precious time.
