Re: GC does not know group membership of users

Exchange Server Propeties:
DC: autodiscover - it shows all DC's of my site are listet for
mycompany.com and de.mycompany.com
LDAP: if this menas Configuratoin Domain Controller, it is set ot
autodiscover and lists the DC of de.mycompany.com only, this one is no GC
just DC and FSMO
GC: set to autodiscover, bnut just hte de.mycompany.com one is lsited (I
have added manualy the other one, but this is not listed if set to
autodiscover) - Strange enough, inteh all Domain contorllers area, the GC in
charge, the one not working, is only listed as DC but nto as GC

I do not know where to look for GAL and Offline Address List DC's

there is no client in mycompany.com


I am using Active-directory integrated DNS; this means any DC for
mycompany.com is a DNS server for mycompany.com and for
de.mycompany.com as well. The DC's of de.mycompany.com are not DNS
servers.

I do not have any error event-ID for the not found GC's available,
since I would have to restart the IS without having online the vlaid
GC, which I can't do right now. Actually it is not a error message,
all GC's of the whole forest are found, all names of them are
resolved correctly, but non but the one mentioned above are somehow
valid for the Exchagne server, it says something like discovered GC
123 and so on, but none of them does respond, which is not true,
respectively it might be true, but the GC works for any other
application.

Thank you for posting that information. It actually looks good. I was
looking at DNS entries, WINS, gateway (to determine if all this is on one
subnet), and the Primary DNS Suffix. I did notive that the workstation has a
search suffix of "mycompany.de", and will assume that is an outside
resource. That suffix is really not required. It will resolve outside
anyway, assuming you're using forwarders or the Root hints.

In Exchange, ESM (going by memory):
RUS: What DC is specificied?
Exchange server properties, Dir Service tab: what LDAP, GC and DCs are
listed?
Global address list: What DC is listed?
Offline Address list: Which DC is listed?
