Sounds like you aren't in native mode. You can't do same grouptype nesting in mixed mode.

For some reason, we can't make a distribution list a member of another distribution list. Even the domain admins can't do it.
I seem to recall that it was possible before, but I'm not entirely sure.
Is there a way to do this? Adding hundreds of individual users to newly created distribution lists simply can't be done in a matter of minutes, and this is turning out to be a big predicament.
