Hi all,
I'm new to active directory. I want to know how to setup Domain in
windows
2000 server environment. I've been working with peer to peer network
uptill
now and am planning to learn domain networking.
For practice I've setup two computers. one with windows xp professinal
&
the
other one with windows 2000 server. I've installed active directory but
don't
know how to administer it. In the sense how to connect to a domain? How
to
create users & assign them rights? etc.
Is there anyone who can help me out in this regard?

This is a topic that numerous books have been written about. You could
compile thousands of pages on how to administer an Active Directory
domain.
I would recommend you check the local used bookstore for some intro level
books on Active Directory.

Also, it is amazing how many people will never both to
even check the help. Located in the Win2000+ help are
(very) MANY "checklists" as well as overviews, troubleshooting,
etc on practically ever aspect of Windows setup and configuration.

Search for "checklist Active Directory" (or anything similar.)

If you cannot think of a good keyword to search then just try
"checklists" to see a checklist of all checklists.

There are also numerous "Step-by-Step" guides on the Microsoft
website so googling something like this works great:

[ site:microsoft.com "step-by-step" KEYWORD ]

KEYWORD would be replaced by any specific keyword(s)
or quoted phrase(s) you wish help understanding.

The main disadvantage of the Step-by-Step guides is that they
are literally step by step and can be quite long but if you truly
don't understand a subject then they can make a fantastic
tutorial resource if you just carry them out.

We will help. Try something. Ask questions. Tell us
specifically what your problems and goals are and someone
will practically always be willing and able to help here....
