AD not openning

Hello,
Recently got a problem with windows 2000 server, when i try to open active
directory users and computers on the Exchange 2000 server, I get an error
"Naming information cannot be located because the authentication mechanism
is unknown. Contact your system administrator to verify that your domain is
properly configured and is currently online". What is this error and how can
I solve it.
Thanx in advance,

.
