Thank you for your comments.
Yes, good point...this is indeed the only DC in this site. How do I
specify
the source from another site? Is this where the parent object registry
entry
is used?

Or, do I need to specify one of the other DCs as a "BURFLAGS=D4" server?

...continued thanks!

however... if the DC where you are going to do the D2 is the only in its
site, that means the DC needs a DC in another site as a source for the
SYSVOL.
SYSVOL replication uses AD replication for its schedules. So if you do
the
D2 while the replication is not open, the SYSVOL will stay unavailable
until
the schedule opens.
For this you have three possibilities if the schedule is tight and the DC
is
the only one in its site:
(1) wait until the schedule open, THEN do the D2
(2) see: http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/archive/2006/05/12/956.aspx
(3) Do the D2 and just wait until the schedule opens (not recommended)

We have an Active Directory with Windows 2000 SP4 on all DCs.
There are 6 DCs in the domain.
Only one of the DCs has the JRNL WRAP error condition.
I have researched MS articles and the newsgroups, and I understand that
to
resolve this, I need to set the BURLFLAGS entry to D2 on the server
with
the
problem (to trigger a non-authoritative restore)....However, I am not
clear
as to whether or not this is the only step I need to take....Do I need
to
specify the "parent object" as well?
Here is my understanding of how to resolve this issue:
1) Stop NTFRS service on the DC with the journal wrap error.
2) On the DC with the error, change the BURFLAG registry entry to D2.
3) Start the NTFRS service.
Please let me know if there is anything else I need to do to resolve
this
issue. Thanks.
