Re: Upgrade to Windows 2003

have you read what the message says?

To upgrade the schema, on the schema operations master, run Adprep.exe
/forestprep. The adprep.exe command-line tool is available in the
cmpnents\r2\adprep directory on the windows 2003 r2 disc 2

check the last sentence and read it again...

I upgraded our first Windows 2000 server DC to windows 2003 this weekend
and
when I go to 'complete the setup' (insert windows 2003 r2 disk 2), I get
the
following error message:

Setup cannot continue because the active directory schema version of this
domain controller is not compatible with windows server 2003 r2. Before
you
can install windows server 2003 r2 on this domain controller or on any of
the windows 2003 domain controllers in this forest, you must first upgrade
the schema version to windows server 2003 r2.

To upgrade the schema, on the schema operations master, run Adprep.exe
/forestprep. The adprep.exe command-line tool is available in the
cmpnents\r2\adprep directory on the windows 2003 r2 disc 2.

When I upgraded over the weekend, everything ran smoothly. No errors and
everything completed successfully--including the schema update. I saw it
update to version 30, I believe. This server holds all fsmo roles and I
used
the administrator account, which is a member of Enterprise, Domain and
Schema admin groups. Anyone have any ideas? The server seems to be running
fine...replication taking place and users authenticating.

TIA,
Chris
