Re: Error adding PCs to domain

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Wayne,

A really quick way to solve this would be to change one of the workstations
to a workgroup, reboot, log on as local Administrator and then join that
computer to the new domain. Then log on with a Domain user account object.
I bet that all of the problems go away.

I do not think that I have ever joined a computer account object to a 'new'
domain without first joining it to a workgroup and then joining it to the
new domain. Not saying that this can not be done....just never tried it.

Also, just for a piece of information - if you install the Support Tools
from the Service Pack CD-Media ( and not from the WIN2000 Server
CD-Media....that one is old and outdated ) you can use netdom to join
computers to a domain.
