Domain controllers CPU pinned

Our DCs CPUs are pinned at 100% by the system process and the LSASS process.
We use SMS 2.0 and it looks like the SMS clients (aprox 3000 clients) are
trying to authenticate multiple times per second, which in turn pins these
processes on the DC's. I have tried restarting the server service which
helps temporarily. Anyone see a similar problem with SMS 2.0 clients and
win2k DC's?
