Yes, good point. I've noticed that although some people say to use the
loopback interface, it doesn't always work properly and can cause issues.
Hadn't thought about not listening -that could be the case, but the user
would have to have changed the DNS server to only listen on a certain IP.
Although I've come across this issue with boxes pointing to their correct IP
address too.
This does beg the question however, of the purpose of that second NIC?
Daniel, what are you using the two NICs for? Don't get me wrong, there's
nothing wrong with this -it just can cause confusion and issues when you're
not expecting it if it's not done properly...

Paul, Is there a problem here because the DC also has a NIC with a different IP address with the loopback as its DNS server. If it is trying to register the SRV records through that NIC too, it may not find a DNS server listening on that IP address. thoughts?? -- Ryan Hanisco MCSE, MCDBA FlagShip Integration Services "ptwilliams" <ptw2001@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:uhkl4cGFFHA.2756@TK2MSFTNGP15.phx.gbl... > That's just because DNS hadn't loaded properly and Netlogon tried to > reregister it's SRV records in DNS. > > You can safely ignore this.
