You don't need NetBEUI, and as simple as it is, any additional protocols may
confuse the issue. Check the browser master like Andrei said, and also
ensure the NetBT is enabled (as opposed to disabled or whatever DHCP says)
and that the Net BIOS over TCP/IP Helper Service is running.

If you're having connectivity issues and the actual physical connectivity is
fine, then you should look to name resolution problems. Almost all issues
stem from name resolution problems.

I have 2 xp pro users with admin rigths to a 2000 AD domain.  After logon
they can't browse the network.  They can't see other computers on the 
network.
Some other machines are xp pro and xp home.
I installed netbeui, and netbios over ip.
sometimes they can access share on the server and then they can't anymore?
