Rajmohan offers a good suggestion -- especially if this is a
Win2003 Domain (in spite of posting in Win2000.a_d)

Also (in that case) adding DSClient upgrade might/will help.
Win2003 enforces SMB signing by default.

If these are not the issue, then likely it is a NAME resolution
problem -- with multiple subnets and the NT box on one
subnet while the DC(s) is(are) on another, the most likely
reason is that you have no WINS server or the machines
are not "clients" of that WINS database (a single WINS
database whether on one machine or properly replicated.)

Most common mistake here is to forget to make THE DCs
clients of the WINS server in the mistaken believe that either
"Servers don't need to resolve names" or "Win2000 doesn't
need NetBIOS resolution." (both are wrong)

Make the (true) CLIENTS AND the "Servers" WINS clients
on their NIC properties and ensure the WINS database is
fully replicated if you have multiple WINS servers.
