Well, we've seen this happen in the past but it never reproduced itself
long enough for us to figure out what caused it (at least not that I'm
aware of). When you are selecting it via the search (using the Object
Picker) the default settings are changed. If you were to right-click on
the object instead of double-clicking on it, you would note that Open is
not present and Rename is in bold, indicating it is the default. We were
thinking it has to have something to do with the DisplaySpecifier attribute
but the issues we saw came and then stopped occurring after a few days.

Wish I could help, but just wanted to let you know that you've encountered
strange behavior that at least a few other folks have seen.
Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you. Maybe someone else on the
alias has an answer for you.

| Got a strange issue
| When I use Active Directory Comptuer and User program, if
| I "browse" to the user id and double click on it I get
| user properties window. BUT, if I do a seach for the same
| user id, and I double click on the user id in the result
| window, I get Rename id window.
|
| It should have shown me the Properties window on both,
| anyone have any idea what is causing this?
