Scott: Thinking out loud. Microsoft suggests that you
use as few domains as possible. If one domain will work,
stay with one. The Microsoft rule for setting up a site
is that if the communications link connectivity is less
than 512Kbps, then create two sites with a site link.
Defining an organization's network around domains was done
in NT4. Windows 2000 and beyond permit using few domain
with site links and Organizational units in the AD. I
have never used it, but I understand that you can move
domains; not sure about combining them.
Each domain has its own Global Catalog, right? The GC
is used for logon authentication.
I hope my 'out loud' thinking helps. regards, milt
