Startup default language in VS 8 Pro

I hope nobody thinks these are absolutely dumb questions :=).
First question: I just installed VS 8 Pro on my PC system (awesome!).
During the installation process, one of the steps involved was to set a
"default" startup language to use, so that startup would bring you up in the
language you desired to use most frequently. Well, I chose Visual Basic,
and that worked. Every time I start up, VS 8 dispays a very brief splash
screen then runs the VB environment screen to begin my work.
Now, I confess to setting that default with not much thought or close
attention to what I was doing. Having explored the VB language aspects, I
now want to explore the **other** language environments in the VS 8 Pro
package. So...
How do I do that? Much to my surprise, I do not see any obvious way to
start up the other languages. My start menu has no other relevant options
than "Visual Studio 2008*, and selecting that is the one that starts up VB.
I notice that the initial splash screen seems to list all the available
languages, but it only appears for a second or so, and I would have to be
superman if that is what you use to choose some language other than the
default one for starting the environment.
Which leads me to suspect that either I did not set up my installation
properly, or (ouch) I have to redo the setup individually for each such
language I want to use. Or else I am just missing some setting or option
selection somewhere or something. I read all the setup info, but maybe I
missed this aspect of installation.
The only thing I see that **might** be what I am seeking is the "Import and
Export Settings" Tools menu option. If so, should I save my current
environment first as a file, and then select a different envioronment
default, save the new one, and then use that process to allow selecting
which environment to operate in? Is that the method? Is it possible to
save things so that I can simply switch environments before VS starts by
using different menu selections?
Second question: I notice that many of the choices, links and topics in the
VS 8 Help file, for example for "startup kits" etc., refer to the Express
versions and even link to the Express web pages. Is that what I am supposed
to see and use for these issues? For example, the learning choices seem to
refer mostly to express samples etc. although I have found many other VS 8
samples and so forth. Is this just the way I should expect this Help file
to be?
Any help with these questions appreciated... if you can stop laughing long
enough.... :=)
