Sp1 install freeze

I have Windows XP SP3. The installation of VS 2008 went fine. But when
I try to install the SP1, it freezes during the install updrade to the
Framework 3.5. Does it really freeze or is it normal that this steps
takes forever? Seems msiexec.exe is freezing.

I have Norton internet security turned off during the upgrade.
