Getting a VC2008 hotfix

Is it possible to get a hotfix without paying? I just ran into the C2471
bug (http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?
FeedbackID=308775 and
http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?
FeedbackID=309462) and links I follow all take me down the 'give us your
money' path...

VC9 is unusable without this hotfix (according to both bugs, it's been
fixed, it just didn't make it into RTM)
