Re: VS 2005 Pro Crash

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

UPDATE: I got frustrated and uninstalled VS 2005 and then re-installed;
that DID NOT fix it. It still won't work.

Any ideas? Any tools to remove all registry entries created by VS 2005 so I
can get a clean re-install if I uninstall again?

Thanks for the help, in advance!
Jim

I have VS2005 Pro installed. It was operating fine. I also had several of
the Visual Express edition pkgs installed. The VBExpressEdition SP1
wouldn't install for many weeks. Then I got some help and it installed
from a local copy vs Windows Update. Now my VS 2005 Pro gives an "Visual
Studio has encountered an unexpected error." when I click on anything in
the upper bar (File, Edit, View, Tools, etc.- any of the drop downs from
these too!). I've ran the ControlPanel|Add/Remove|Repair on this package -
no change; I've ran the same with the Reinstall option - no change even
after re-running SP1 install. If I click on Tools I get:
"This is an unsupported version of Microsoft Visual C# 3.0/Microsoft
Visual Basic 9.0. Therefore, many features may not work as expected.

Package Load Failure

Package 'RML.Steel.SteelPackage, Steel, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=null' has failed to load properly (GUID =
{325B8569-0C7C-4A6A-8AF8-89C3B6BC9E74} ). Please contact package vendor
for assistance. Application restart is recommended, due to possible
environment corruption. Would you like to disable loading this package in
the future? You may use 'devenv /resetskippkgs' to re-enable package
loading."

Which then allows me to select - disable this package and then the full
'Tools' Menu drop down extends only to give me the "Visual Studio has
encountered an unexpected error." when I click on anything.

Even in order to exit (even the X in top right gives this same error!!) I
have to go to Task Manager and End Program about 3 times before I get a
Program Not Responding and it kills it.

Any ideas?? I'm really frustrated.

Thanks so much!
Jim
