I have a rather bizzare situation. I went to build a release of a
product in visual studio for QA today. I generated the setup.exe file
just fine (MSI too). When QA ran the setup program the got the error
in the subject line. So I ran the setup on the machine that generated
the setup program and got the same error.
Other than Microsoft updates, nothing has changed with the system
since I generated the last setup ogram in Nov 2006, other than chaning
the program code, the setup orject is untouched. So I am a bit
curious as to what happened! Been doign google searches for a couple
hours and nothing seems to fit.
To summarize, visual studio generates a setup.exe from a SetupProject
that can not be run on the same machine that generated it. Yet 4
months ago it worked fine...
Now for some information. Normal 32bit system, not an itanium or 64
bit or anything exotic. Just a simple intel 32bit machine.
