It's hard to believe VS2005 was in beta for so long - someone obviously
dropped the ball.
My guess is that this whole .net 2.0 and vs2005 was just a temporary thing
and MS didn't really put the muscle behind it. .Net 3.0 (w LINQ) and the
next vs (Orcas) which they talked about extensively before 2005 even shipped
I hope is where they are putting the $$.

Agreed, whilst looking at your message i noticed a Google advertisement
for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, below it reads:
'400 new development features!
Come see the difference.'
The focus seems to be on marketing new features which is fine so long
as they don't compromise stability. I have been using vs 2005
Professional for four days now and have had nothing but frustration and
I am even thinking of going back to 2003, a fantastic development
environment (even though it still had some issues and bugs). I would
prefer 200 new development features and spend more time testing and
ensuring stability after all, it's easier to live without features
you've never used but much harder to live with a buggy development
environment.
