I spent hours trying to find a solution to a very simple error. I found the
following in a thread from last year and it discribes my problem very well:

So, even though vs2005 was brutally uninstalled(I did that as well) there is
still some little thing left that makes it impossible to make COM Interop
registrations?!? Does this mean I will have to reinstall my whole
computer?!? That is really really very very booring!! Or is there a
solution? Please share it with the world! :-}
(No, reregistering mscoree.dll and/or mscoree.tlb with regsvr32 or regtlib
does not solve the problem)
