I'm having a problem connecting to my Win2003 Web Edition development
environment with VisualStudio.Net 2003 over FPSE. The webs on this server
are using Visual Source Safe. This server has been up and running for over 6
months. IE 6 has no problem connecting to webs on this server.
This problem started some time around the time I installed McAfee Active
VirusScan 7.0.1. For the time being I'm considering this to be coincidental.
When I try to open an existing web get the dialog "Opening to the Web
http://someweb " and VisualStudio hangs. I have let this run for hours and
is never successfully connects. When I run task manager on the web server it
shows near 100% CPU with w3wp.exe using most of that. The web server is not
logging any events when this happens.
I have also tried:
Connecting through a share
Creating a new project
Connecting from other machines
Using Microsoft SharePoint Administrator to "fix" FPSE.
None of these yields different results.
Any ideas?

Carlos Schoellhorn
