Add or Modify Templates

First post here and new to VS. Could be the wrong group. Please advise.
Right now, I am using VS for the sole purpose of creating and validating
Office2007 RibbonXML for use in Office Template AddIns.
When I start VS there is an option for New File and then I can choose
General and XML File and a new blank XML file is created in the code window.
What I would like to do is have my own template in the General category
named Ribbon XML Basic that creates a new XML as follows:
<customUI xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2006/01/customui">
<ribbon>
<!--Start here-->
</ribbon>
</customUI>
I have found the XMLFile.zip folders in the Item Templates and Item
Templates Cache in the VS2008 installation directory, and I have tried
everything that I can think of to create a similar folder and to exit one of
those folders. No matter what I have tried, I have had no success.
Thanks.
