I have made a clean instalation WinXP as well, and then instaled all updates
and then SP 2 and it did not work. In fact, I tried it for a week. I have
been offered the installation of SP2 through Windows Update, it had only
75MB, cause I already had all updates and did not work again :( And I have
the newest drivers, firmwares, bios, updates for win and programs and so. I
check PC for spyware every time I leave internet, well I have spywatch
program as well. Maybe there is a compatibility problem with my hardware with
SP 2. I have noticed, that WinXP is very sensitive about hardaware. When I
had a memory, I used it in WinME without problem, but XP recognized it,
because it damaged files in XP. My hardware: Asus KT600, AthlonXP Barton 2500
at 2,2Ghz, Saphire ATI Radeon 9600 256MB, 768MB 333Mhz RAM, 2 HDD(Maxtor with
WinXP Pro US and WD with WinME). I have also noticed, that safe mod and
restore mod in winxp are .... . If there is a problem to run XP, safe mod
doesnot run neither, in WinME I can fix problems in safe mod. Any help would
be apreatiated, I would like to have SP 2, if it only would be possible.
