Re: VSTO Project crashes on startup

Nothing unfortunately. If I accept Word's offer to start in Safe Mode, that
gets logged in the Application event log. The crash / failure to start does
not get logged.

Funny thing is after struggling with this the whole day Thursday, when I
came in on Friday morning it worked fine. I solved the issue and moved on.
Now today the problem is back, and Word crashes on startup.

Any suggestions will be gratefully accepted.

Thanks,
Paul

I have been using VSTO for years without problems. Most of my coding is
in
regular Visual Studio C# project(s), but every now and again I add to my
VSTO Word Template project.

Yesterday I tried to start my VSTO project so I could debug something,
but
it crashed on startup. Word appears briefly, and then disappears. The
next
start of Word offers Safe Mode.

I then created a brand new VSTO project with one message box in the _New
event - same thing happens. Word starts and immediately crashes.

Opening the template on it's own is fine. Also, using the "Start without
Debugging" menu option works fine. Of course, I need to debug, so I am
stuck.

Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong with my machine? I am desperate
to
avoid re-installing the whole machine. (I installed Office 12 in
December,
and I'm quite sure I have run my VSTO projects since then. I removed the
Office 12 installation today.)

Tx,
Paul
